Another Day, Another Lip Color

According to the Make Up For Ever website, M401 Icona Pop is a limited edition hot red shade. As you can gather, this shade is a product of the brand's collaboration with the Swedish duo. From what I gather, the shade itself is permanent, however, the packaging is limited edition. The other limited edition lipstick in the range is a midnight blue one (that leans teal in the promotional materials). Admittedly, I did not buy this for the limited edition packaging but for the hue and finish. It's that beautiful matte red that goes with everything and is flattering on most skintones.

From L to R: DOTING HONEST COMMITTED SINCERE CHARMING TRUSTWORTHY CHIVALROUS SENTIMENTAL DEVOTED LOYAL DEDICATED ADORING Here are all the currently available  #meetmatteshughes   liquid lipsticks from @thebalm_cosmetics   . There are 12 of them, all in all. 8 were originally released and 4 were added later. As you can see, we have a pretty good range here of shades from nudes, corals, browns, mauves, and reds. I really love these colors. They are all flattering for the typical Filipina skintone which is light medium to medium. The finish is semi-matte as there still is a little sheen on the lips but i think that's a trade off of comfort. This line is one of the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I've ever tried. These all feel so light. You won't feel them. They're not too drying either that you feel like you can't move your lips. The color payoff is more than decent too. It might appear a bit thin upon initial application but it sort of works with your lip colo...

I have a feeling this one's gonna be good. M102 is part of Make Up For Ever's revamped lipstick line called Artist Rouge. Specifically, this is part of the Artist Rouge Mat line because, well, it's matte. This shade is described in the MUFE website as a Pink Brown. Gotta say though, although it looks like that in pictures, it's deeper and darker in person. Instead of a pinkish brownish nude, it's more of a muted medium berry shade. For those who liked the discontinued MUFE Mat 4, you might like this too. It's not a dupe by any means but it's got that similar feel and tone that it is worth checking out.

MAC  cosmetics   liptensity in life's blood is a bright, medium red with a creamy texture and a somewhat glossy finish. Not too much to look like Jessica Rabbit but it definitely has a shine. I haven't worn this in any   #motd   yet but initial impressions in the store is it's pigmented. One swipe delivers intense opaque color, and it's incredibly creamy.  Stay tuned for more updates. :)

This is a very light and natural-looking makeup look for a relatively busy day when i don't have time to do a full eyeshadow look. I only used two shades from the  jeffree star cosmetics   beauty killer palette  . I used the shade Courtney as my transition shade to deepen my hooded eyes a tiny bit and then I patted Princess on my lid to create that little twinkle. I then went straight to applying mascara. No liner. I then applied N ars  deep throat,  makeupgeek  x  kathleenlights  highlight in starlight and T he Balm Cosmetics   betty loumanizer  because I wanted a natural glowy cheek instead of a cut heavily contoured one. Finally got my grubby paws on this baby during an opportune visit to the @maccosmetics  store at Trinoma. I was there to check out and swatch the #macnutcrackersweet   #holidaycollection but the product testers haven't arrived so that was a no-go. I instead asked if they had finally restocked  #smokedalmond . Couldn't believe my ears when they said they just did. Yey! I've wanted to snag this sweet sweet lippie ever since @danaann  swatched the  #macliptensity line on her youtube channel. It looked like a foolproof nude color that will go with a myriad of looks. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought so because this shade sold out almost instantly. I feel like this will be a regular in my makeup bag.

I heard from a stand up comic once that all women are obsessed with the fall season. Ask any woman which season is her favorite and it's always gonna be fall. As far as I've noticed, it's true. We love the colors of the leaves falling, the brisk weather, the luxurious knits that's suddenly on trend and we love the pumpkin orange and berry tones on our faces. It's as if we want to bathe in the whole fall season. I've only just realized this. Is it true with you? Eye Makeup is primarily  @marcbeauty #allaboutlastnight  eyecon. Oh. My. I know this palette doesn't seem to be the typical fall themed makeup but check out that burgundy, dusty rose, violet and orange. Those are totally fall appropriate. The pink, greens and the light blue would be a fun spring/summer eye. That white is useful all year long. This palette is just full of possibilities. Thanks for the assist  @margaretraizza  . I have been trying to hunt this one down for a year. @viseart  palette no. 8 purchased online from  @mupstore   Three matte palettes down. One more to go then on to the Theory palettes.

In the picture are some new products to add to my brow routine. I've always used my  @benefitcosmetics   #browzings  (as you can infer from the old packaging) with my  @maccosmetics  angled brushes (266 and 208). Lately though I thought why not expand this. There's so many newĺy launched products, why not branch out a little and mix it up a bit. So, I'm adding a couple of defining pencils, the  @benefitph   #preciselymybrowpencil and the  @makeupforeverofficial #prosculptingbrow  , and a microfiber filler, the  #benefitcosmetics   #gimmebrow . These three are all very well and widely reviewed and, upon initial testing, I can definitely see why. Some more usage is needed to fully form an opinion on these though.

The Balm's Meet Matte Hughes Devoted is a slightly orangey bright red lipstick. It is also noticeably lighter and thinner than Loyal. This is the most problematic of this line due to that thin consistency as the coverage also tends to be thin and it becomes a bit tricky to apply it evenly on the lips. I can definitely see some areas where my natural lip color was peeking through and that's just not what you want with red or dark lipsticks. On the other hand, this lipstick still photographs rather well which is true of all the Meet Matte Hughes. All in all, Devoted is not my favorite red liquid lipstick. I'd say if you want a red from this line, go for Loyal or Adoring instead.

Apply a matte or at least a satin black eyeshadow as close as possible to the lashline and a little bit in the lower crease area. This elongates and deepens small asian eyes. It also creates the illusion of thicker eyelashes which really opens up the eye.

This is why I avoid the @makeupforeverofficial  store when I'm trying to stick to a budget. Their products are just too good to pass up. I had to grab the  #prosculptingbrow  (I've been eyeing this ever since it came out), the  #aquaxleyepencil  (in black because I need a backup and my old one is down to almost a nub) and two of the #artistrouge  creme lipsticks in shades C211 and C108. As freebies, the great girls at  @makeupforeverphilippines  trinoma gave me this cool hologram pouch and some samples of the #step1primer  .

The Balm Cosmetics Meet Matte Hughes Loyal is what is usually referred to as a true red. It's not too cool or too warm or pinkish or orangey. It's that classic red that goes with all skintones. It's also not limited to a particular season. It's not too light to be strictly a summer shade or too dark to only be a fall shade. As the name suggests, this is a lip color that can stay by your side (and on your lips) for all time.

I have lusted for  @natashadenona eyeshadows for almost a year now. They looked so rich and pigmented. Even at more than $200 dollars for the 28 shadow palette, I thought they were worth it because you get a lot of product for the price and quality product at that. This is also how i view  @makeupforeverofficial   artist shadows and   @narsissist   audacious lipsticks. They are expensive because they are worth it. I just never pulled the trigger on the ND big palettes because I did not think I'd get much use out of them. The shades weren't right for me, too many greens, blues and purples, and that made the big palettes not worth the price tag. But, the Star Palette is different. The  #natashadenonastarpalette  looks perfect with its warm mattes, berries and taupes . I can wear these shades every day of the week. Plus, the reviews have been excellent. @thebalm_cosmetics   #meetmattehughes   trustworthy is a warm darker nude that has that flattering balance of brown, beige and brick. I love how this lip color livened up my face even though it is a nude. It's one of those rare instances when you put on something and you immediately think, "Wow, that's perfect." I still have a couple more shades to include in this review of the meet matte hughes liquid lipsticks but this shade is the current frontrunner in the whole line. The Balm Cosmetics Meet Matte Hughes liquid lipstick in Adoring is a wine red shade. It pairs well with neutral or coppery eye looks. It even goes well with barely there makeup, as seen above, although mascara or false lashes are a a definite must for this look, as well as healthy-looking brows, to keep the face looking balanced. This shade is great for when i feel like sporting an asian version of snow white. Brows filled in using Benefit Brow Zings. Eyeliner is KPalette. Mascara is Maybelline Lash Sensational. Eyeshadows are from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. Blush was a light as a feather dusting of Nars Exhibit A. No false lashes were harmed during the creation of this look.

On weekends, I do not have the energy or inclination to do a fully decked-out look so I usually do a variation of this look. Draw a wing so sharp it can cut. Swipe on a bloody red lip. Slay. I fill out my brows, pop a shimmery shadow all over my lid and define my crease with a matte brown eyeshadow a little when I feel like putting on a bit more effort. Brows filled in using the shadow buck from the Urban Decay Naked palette. Eyeliner is KPalette. Lip color is Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips in London Fog. We had Steveston pizza. It was yummy.
