Another Day, Another Lip Color

@thebalm_cosmetics   #meetmattehughes   trustworthy is a warm darker nude that has that flattering balance of brown, beige and brick. I love how this lip color livened up my face even though it is a nude. It's one of those rare instances when you put on something and you immediately think, "Wow, that's perfect." I still have a couple more shades to include in this review of the meet matte hughes liquid lipsticks but this shade is the current frontrunner in the whole line. The Balm Cosmetics Meet Matte Hughes liquid lipstick in Adoring is a wine red shade. It pairs well with neutral or coppery eye looks. It even goes well with barely there makeup, as seen above, although mascara or false lashes are a a definite must for this look, as well as healthy-looking brows, to keep the face looking balanced. This shade is great for when i feel like sporting an asian version of snow white. Brows filled in using Benefit Brow Zings. Eyeliner is KPalette. Mascara is Maybelline Lash Sensational. Eyeshadows are from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. Blush was a light as a feather dusting of Nars Exhibit A. No false lashes were harmed during the creation of this look.

On weekends, I do not have the energy or inclination to do a fully decked-out look so I usually do a variation of this look. Draw a wing so sharp it can cut. Swipe on a bloody red lip. Slay. I fill out my brows, pop a shimmery shadow all over my lid and define my crease with a matte brown eyeshadow a little when I feel like putting on a bit more effort. Brows filled in using the shadow buck from the Urban Decay Naked palette. Eyeliner is KPalette. Lip color is Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips in London Fog. We had Steveston pizza. It was yummy.

Rodeo Drive, only the fourth highlighter from the brand (the previously released ones are You Dew You, You Glow Girl and Beverly Hills), is a mesmerizing pan of rippling gold. Some PR for the product likens the design to the rays of the sun and that's fitting because of the intense yellowish-gold color of the highlight. For me, it reminds me of a seashell glinting off the beach on a warm summer day. That said, I cannot post a review of this yet because I have not touched this, I haven't even swatched it. Personally, I wear this when I'm in a "I'm a grown-ass woman and I like pink. What of it?" mood. It's reminiscent of that Barbie pink I loved when I was a kid and I find it brings a sense of freshness and youth specially when paired with a light pink blush. Pinks like this work very well with a white or black top because the contrast makes the color pop even more. It also works with blues and purples because of the similarity of tones. This kit covers all the bases as it comes with contour, bronzer and highlight sticks. It also comes with a sharpener and even detailed illustrations and instruction on how to use each of the sticks. The product itself is pigmented and easily blendable using a brush or a beauty blender, which is my preferred tool for blending out cream contour. That these products are in stick form makes it so easy to literally draw on your contour. The shades are also quite natural and flattering. The only downside, shade range is nonexistent. There's only this one set that's supposed to apply to every skintone. However, since most Filipino skintones only range from light to medium-dark, this set should work well enough. When you get this (and you absolutely should get this) it is, frankly, underwhelming in the pans. The shades look dark and, unlike most highlighters, the product looks dull. Swatches come out a bit better but still pretty ho-hum. BUT, once you put this on your face, O-M-Gorgeous! It simply tranforms into luminous light that blends and sinks into your skin. What's more, every single shade in the palette does this, even that pink one in the middle that I never thought I'd use as a higlight (maybe as a blush topper). I've developed a liking to pinkish highlights lately but, admittedly, they're not the best on my skin. They tend to look chalky if i go overboard. They just don't blend into my skin seamlessly. They are a creamy-matte texture and finish. The shades are primarily nudes with more brown in them than the usual pink or peach tinge, all except for that last one which I think should be classified as a bold vampy shade. These lippies are a definite nod to the 90s brown lip trend we're having right now but that's not to say that they'll be completely unwearable in the next year or so specially if you stick to the ones at either end of the spectrum because those are pretty classic shades. These have semi-opaque to opaque coverage of a matte but offer a bit of hydration and the slip of a creamy lippie.
