This powder is part of MAC and Star Trek's exclusive collaboration in celebration of the franchise's 50th anniversary. Now, MAC is notorious for churning out an excessive number of special collections or limited edition items. It becomes a bit tedious to be honest, the constant "get it now or you'll never see it again". This collection, however, got me. I have been waiting for this to hit since they announced it in spring. I did not want to get my hopes up though because these limited editions sell out within a day, at times within hours of the stores opening. So, when i happened to walk by MAC Trinoma and saw this miraculously still in stock I felt it was fate. Luna Luster and I were meant to be. The MAC website describes this product as a sheer wash of soft rose shimmer. In short, it's a highlighter. From swatching this product and initial impressions, it is made of finely milled particles which impart a soft subtle shine to the skin. It does not overly emphasize pores or imperfections. I have noticed that you can build it up without looking glittery at all because the powder's blendable formula. I also used MAC fix plus to intensify the shine and that worked just fine. The only downside is, if you do build it up or intensify it and your skintone is medium to dark, it can look a bit too silver on your face due to this powder's color. A silvery-rosy highlight like this one will never look as complementary as a golden highlight on medium to dark skintones. That's just how it is. It does not take anything away from the fact that this is a well-formulated highlight. That said, there's no reason you can't enjoy this powder if you're going for a subtle glow because it does deliver on that promise. It's just that, if you're looking for a strong highlight that will make you look like bronzed or golden Filipina goddess, this might not be for you.
