I also thought some diversity wouldn't hurt, right? Anyway, @thebalm_cosmetics #meetmattehughessentimental is described as a warm magenta. It is a hidden gem of the line due to its unique shade. It surprised me. It's one of those rare instances where you think "that's a one-of-a-kind color" and, even though you have rows of lip products, you have nothing like that. Big plus, it actually looks great. I loooved this color on me and i think it'll work on most, if not all, skintones. Now, MAC is notorious for churning out an excessive number of special collections or limited edition items. It becomes a bit tedious to be honest, the constant "get it now or you'll never see it again". This collection, however, got me. I have been waiting for this to hit since they announced it in spring. If you don't watch a lot of makeup tutorials on youtube and you don't know her, she is an insanely popular beauty vlogger. She is extremely skilled and equally hilarious. She recently did a mermaid eyes makeup look where she used a highlighter on top of a pinkish nude lip and I thought it looked beautiful. I've seen some lip art posts in IG that used this same technique but I didn't feel inclined to do it. The formula is unusual though and might seem odd at first because they have this cream texture that have a sort of bouncy texture. It's quite unique. Despite the cream formula, they apply and blend quite well using a synthetic brush and, unlike most cream formulas, these do not crease at all. Their Ultra Satin Lips are also so pigmented, again, affordable and have the most comfortable formula for a liquid lip. They are not tight or drying or flaky. They do transfer and yet don't leave you with that awkward white ring when your lip color rubs off. I don't know how they do it. I was amazed. The only thing I do not like about Colourpop is it is not available here in the Philippines. So, expect loads of new makeup posts, unboxings and first impressions coming your way. The first of these posts is this @shopitude haul full of reasonably-priced but well-reviewed makeup products from @maybellineny , @wetnwild , and @colourpop . All of these have been all over the internet as beauty bloggers' and vloggers' affordable favorites. A bunch of posts even say that these products are exact dupes or are even better than similar products from high-end or luxury brands. The best thing, they all cost less than 500 pesos (around $10). Due to the unavailability of these products locally (coz we're two years behind here as regards to getting stocks in the Philippines), I have yet to try them.
