Unboxed: Nars Vengeful Dual Intensity Blush Because everyone else is opening their presents, I thought unboxing this pretty would be appropriate. I got this blush duo mainly because @missangeljones used it on the model during the #narsph x #beautyism event last week and it came out so lovely on the model's medium skintone. The fact that it also has a highlighter (in a silver-gold hue which I don't have) built in convinced me all the more. Who doesn't want two ✌ products in one go? As an aside, I think red blush flatters everyone because it mimics that post-workout healthy flush. It's particularly spectacular on medium to dark skintones (Hello Pinays!) because it imparts a warmth that we get from spending a rejuvenating day at the beach. Fairer skintones should not be discouraged though because, as I said, this can work and work beautifully on you when applied lightly with a small blush brush. The Nars Dual Intensity blushes are uniquely marketed as capable of two types of application: wet and dry. Applied dry, it's the usual Nars-quality intense pigmentation. Applied wet, it's supposed to come out sheerer. I'm skeptical about that because from the reviews I've read the wet application delivers even more intense color. Christmas party makeup. This is my ideal look for most parties. The dark eyes are striking (which is great for nighttime) and, due to the several layers of product, it holds up through several hours without retouching. I also prefer toned down lips because eating and drinking inevitably ruins lipstick so it's nice not having to worry about visible smudges or that pale inner lip that's left after your lip product comes off. Makeup of the Day and NARS Audacious lipstick in Charlotte Review. MOTD. This is my first foray into contouring that approaches Kardashian levels. I usually do a little bronzer and some highlighter and that's it. This js mainly because, on most days, I prefer my foundation sheered out from the middle of the face. This technique shows more skin and less foundation. Now, Kardashian level contouring requires at least 3 products: foundation that's 2 shades or more darker than your skintone, foundation or concealer that's a shade or two or more lighter than your skintone, and your regular foundation. I did use those 3 in this look but with a light hand. I did not want my face laden with so much product that you won't be able to see my skin anymore. I also did not contour my nose. The result, greater but natural-looking definition in the jaw and cheekbones. It's pretty nice. Lipstick Review: NARS Audacious lipstick in Charlotte I've said it several times before and I'll say it again, NARS did everything right with these lipsticks. They are smooth, pigmented and incredibly flattering. Charlotte is no different. It glides on opaquely and evenly. No skipping or tugging. It's also the perfect shade of deep dark plum with red like your mouth is one succulent cherry. Yumm. Brush Review: MUFE Brush 100, the Precision Small Foundation Brush. Sunday is make-up-free day so I thought I'd post a review in between doing household chores. Yeah, we girls can have it all! All the work, that is :). Anyway, the brush 100 is part of the new-ish artist brushes launched by MUFE in 2013. All MUFE artist brushes have synthetic bristles. In my limited experience with them, they are soft and DO NOT SHED. I wasn't even planning on buying this if the MUFE makeup artist had not used this in putting on my concealer. The moment she did, I was intrigued. It applied the concealer evenly under my eyes and reached those little corners around my nose and mouth. Have I mentioned the softness? Yeah, but I'll say it again, it is SOFT. In fact, it's so soft that it feels more like a sponge, like a beauty blender, than a brush. I also realized that this also applies foundation like a sponge if you do a stippling motion. So, if you're partial to brushes but want a sponge-like finish, this is a great option. Downside: MUFE Artist Brushes are pricier than most brushes. MAC is a bit cheaper. Upside: These were made for MUA so they are resilient. They were made to retain their shapes despite repeated use. Plus, there are so many uniquely shaped brushes in the range that lends to unique uses as well. I don't know of any MAC brushes that can be a dupe to this. Review: MAC Enchanted Eve Brush Kit Basic. This brush set is part of MAC's holiday collection. It's comprised of 5 brushes, 2 of which are face brushes and 3 eye brushes, namely, the 116SE, 193SE, 226 SE, 213SE and the 266SE. If you think about it, this is aptly called a basic set because it's pretty comprehensive. You get: A blush brush which can be used as a powder/powder foundation brush; A flat foundation brush which doubles as a concealer brush; a crease brush which can be used to apply and blend crease color; a shader brush; and an angled brow brush. I've used and washed these brushes regularly for weeks now. They've remained soft and maintained their shapes. Unlike other travel sets, these have incorporated seamlessly into my makeup routine which goes to show how useful they are. Honestly, I've been snobby about travel brush sets and shunned them in the past because of their oft-reviewed inferior quality. It also doesn't help that brush sets usually come with one or two practically useless pieces (I'm looking at you,159SE). I only bought this set coz of the 226SE which is never found anywhere else but in brush sets. Gotta say, I'm happy I did. Plus side: no more than the ordinary rate of shedding. Brush Review. The MAC 221 Mini Tapered Blending Brush. It's described in the MAC website as a shadow-blending brush used for application and blending of powders. I've vacillated between getting this brush and a flat shader brush because I thought it might be redundant with my 224. It isn't. It applies shadows in a more precise and targeted manner than my 224. Simply, the track of color it leaves behind is thinner and smaller so if you want to do more detailed work, this is a must-have. This is also velvety soft. No scratchiness at all, unlike the 224. The way I use this brush, I apply my crease color, which is usually dark or medium brown, blend it out a little using a window wiping motion. After, I use my 224 to apply my transition color, usually a light brown or tan, at the top part of my crease and blend that out a little as well using the same side to side motion. I gotta say, this is one of my best brush purchases due to the uniqueness of its utility and how gosh-darn soft it is. Good news, this was a limited edition brush but is now permanent. Bad news, during my vacillating period, I've noticed that MAC stores only have 1 or 2 of this brush in stock so if this becomes more popular it might be difficult to find.

Review: Nars Audacious lipstick in Vera. Vera is described in the Nars website as a bright raspberry but as you can see it comes out darker IRL. Personally, I see it as a dark plum with raspberry tones. It can even come off as a lil bit red in certain lighting. Like Vivien, it's more of a winter color but, since it's brighter less muted than Vivien, it could transition to a summer color if you pair it with light eyes, pink blush or a top that brings out the red and pink tones of the lippie.
