Beauty Basics Part 1

Image
1) Concealer Pictured here is the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. It's pricey but I think a concealer that hides dark circles without making your undereyes look dry and wrinkly is worth it. Other faves are Kryolan Dermacolor and Maybelline Fit Me. 2) Powder Foundation  Pictured here is Benefit Hello Flawless. I also have Shiseido but this one is more affordable. Drugstore options like the L'Oréal and Maybelline ones have decent reviews as well but I haven't tried those. I've always splurged on foundation because it's the closest product to my skin so I want it to be good and it can really make or break a look. Most things on your face are fixable but screw up your foundation and you'll have to start from scratch again. 3) Brow Product  It can be a pencil, a brow mascara or powder. For beginners, I recommend powder because it's faster, easier and gives the softest effect. It means very little chance for you to screw up and overdraw your...

Unboxed: Nars Audacious Anna

Image
Nars Audacious lipsticks are described as a one-stroke, full-coverage lipstick with a luxurious creamy texture. It also supposedly is enriched with ingredients which smoothen and nourish lips. Finally, it is touted to have long-lasting wear. The shade Anna is a dusty mauve. This shade, in my experience is rarely in stock due to the popularity of mauve lipsticks. It's also a personal favorite of several well-known youtubers, such as Jaclyn Hill.

Flashback Friday: The Nars Ita Brush

Image
I've decided to make  #flashbackfriday #beauty   edition a permanent fixture. With all the new launches, new products coming at us   #beautyjunkies   , I think it would be good to look back and show some love for an   #og   #cultfavorite   item every once in a while. It makes me reflect and appreciate the items that I already have. It also curbs that craving for new items.   Anyway, this week we shine the spotlight on the   #nars   #itabrush   . Everyone in the   #beautyworld   know this brush and a lot of peopl love it. I'm one of them. This is my   #holygrail   contour brush because it's just so easy and precise to use. You just dip it into your contour brush ever so slightly and follow the hollows of your cheeks, your jaw line and under your chin. Move it a bit in circular motions to blend. You're done. You can also use it with bronzer following the same motions. The downside is, this brush is expens...

Swatched: The Viseart Editorial Brights

Image
These are swatched under harsh white flourescent lights (Gah!) I swiped my finger just twice and lightly at that. So far, the color payoff has been great considering most of these are bright neon. I've also had no trouble at all in blending these out. The stand out shade so far is that orange. It is incredibly pigmented, smooth and so blendable.

Loving Lipsticks Again

Image
Lately, it's been all about the liquid lipsticks. I went through a phase where I just was not interested in any lip product  unless it's a liquid lip. Not swatching it, not buying it. Lately though, I've been missing the hydration of stick lipsticks. A number of brands have also been coming out with entire lines of bolder, better-formulated and pigmented lipsticks so I thought it's time to give the matte liquid lips a break and rekindle my affair with the classic yet rejuvenated stick lipstick. Hence, my recent lipstick haul. Got me a couple of   @maccosmetics #liptensity   lipsticks and some   @makeupforeverphilippines   artist rouge. Gotta say, it's been pretty good so far. They've all been pigmented, creamy and lovely but It's still way too early to commit to an opinion. The   @makeupforeverofficial   #artistrouge   M102 (pictured above) though is making me feel things. As soon as I put this on, I fell in love. This is a must-see, must-sw...

Nude Nuance by Maybelline

Image
Maybelline really hit it out of the park with their creamy mattes. They are so pigmented yet comfortable and have beautiful shades. A current favorite is Nude Nuance, a darker shade of nude with predominantly brown tones. This shade is part of the latest expansion of the line, featuring, yep, nude-brown colors. Nude Nuance is not your typical nude though. It's a bit more edgy and sophisticated. I think it goes very well with earth tones for an understated look with the right amount of oomph!  If you like MAC Whirl but you've been hesitant about picking it up because the price might not be worth it considering the amount of use you foresee getting out of such a shade, Nude Nuance is worth checking out. It's a close enough dupe.
